Zip-lining and Turtles (written by Bam)

After a very early morning we headed over to Miss Sky’s zip line tours at the Nosara Beach Hotel. Everyone got their harness on and we went on a 30 minute drive to the zip line starting point in a military truck. I was really feeling the nerves when we kept going higher and higher.
We got there and we went over the rules and safety precautions. I was ready to go but nervous, so I went towards the end of the group, so I could watch how to do it. Not long after it was time for me to go, the guide pushes me onto the line and I yelled “aaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!”! At the end of the line, I was pumped to do the half a mile long zip line. Mom went, then dad went. We did 13 lines and some we did together as a family and some alone.
We got our tickets/bracelets and walked to the beach with our guide. It was sunset and starting to get dark. After 5 minutes of walking we spotted our first turtle. It was a big turtle and going in to find a place to lay their eggs. What turtles do is they dig a hole with their legs about 2 feet down then lay 80 to 100 eggs. From start to finish is about an hour! (coming from the ocean, digging the hold, laying the eggs, covering the eggs, and returning back to the ocean) We watched one dig its hole. Then checked out more turtles including a turtle with one leg. Then we returned to our first turtle digging its hole, but this time, she was laying eggs (see pics!) It was very cool to see something that a lot of people don’t get to see.

After we were done with the 13 lines, we did a 30 minute drive back to the hotel where we started. We went home, changed quickly and then went back to our favorite lunch spot Howlers for more carpaccio. Halfway through lunch, mom wanted to go to yoga at the Bohdi tree yoga resort so she took a tuk tuk. While mom was gone, me and dad played ping pong. After mom returned, we chilled until about 4:30pm and then we went to a store called Nosara Love, it was very cool and I got a shirt.
After the store we stopped at home for umbrellas and rain jackets so we could go to the town of Ostional to see mother turtles nesting their eggs. On the drive, we faced one roadblock at a small river with no bridge. We were very scared to attempt to cross it because, ironically the one thing our rental car company said was that our insurance doesn't cover if we get stuck in a river... A land cruiser cruised through (no pun intended). So we went for it, Mom was channeling her inner Milly saying “Our father, Our father, Our father, Our father". I was laughing at her while also hoping we wouldn’t get stuck. Luckily we made it and arrived at our destination.

If you are ever in Nosara during the window of days when they do this, I recommend going. We finished the day with dinner at Restaurant Pacifico Azul for delicious seafood.

Well done Bammer on both the blog reporting and a successful Zipline adventure.
